Although it is only Bassick High School’s second year as a CommPACT School, they have already demonstrated great improvements in school climate. Teachers prioritized “Establishing a safe and orderly learning environment” as their most pressing need. Student behavior has improved with a 30 % decrease in incidences of students cutting or disrupting class in the 2011–2012 school year, compared to the previous year. There has been a 53% decrease in the number of students suspended from last year. At the same time, there has been a 6.5 percentage point increase in attendance. These changes all point towards students at Bassick being in school ready to learn. The school made Safe Harbor2 in 2010–2011 after the first year of CommPACT intervention.

Analyzing the past three years, 2009 through 2011, CAPT data’s Proficiency levels in Mathematics showed several areas of significant growth. From 2010–2011, Bassick increased 10.3% points for the whole school. There were increased gains in the subgroups in particular: Female students increased 21.7% points, Black students increased 10.5% points, and Hispanic students increased 14.7% points.

Bassick has also been able to engage more parents in the first year of CommPACT. In the 2009–2010 school year, only a handful of parents regularly attended monthly parent meetings; the following school year, an average of thirty-five parents attended each meeting.
